What does confidential really mean?

I will staunchly protect the information that a client shares with me during a counseling session. There are very few instances where I am required to break confidentiality. These are very rare situations. I must report knowledge of physical or sexual abuse of a child or elder, or knowledge that a client may be a danger to themselves or others. I am also required to break confidentiality in the rare event of a court subpoena.In practical terms, this means that I will only discuss client information within the protected confines of my supervision group (see below). Client information will not be shared with anyone connected to Redeemer Community Church.

Why does it matter that you are supervised?

During my internship year I am part of a group of 8 fellow student interns. I am overseen by a highly experienced, professionally licensed counselor who has over 20 years of experience and is a faculty member at Covenant Seminary. Anonymous discussion (no names will be used) about clients will take place in my supervision group and the supervisor will provide us with support, guidance and advice. The supervisor and student interns will protect this shared information.

How much will this cost?

Counseling can be a very expensive process. However, for the duration of my internship, counseling is provided for a suggested fee of $10.00.

How many clients do you need?

In order to complete the required hours for my program, I need 150 hours of face-to-face counseling sessions. This amounts to approximately 5 to 10 clients per week.
